Flooring guides written for El Paso, not for everywhere else

Ten guides built on slab foundations, 16% spring humidity, blowing dust and the housing stock we actually work in. Every number is sourced, every price range is labelled a market range, and each one tells you where a cheaper material is the better call.

Why these exist

Why we wrote local guides instead of generic ones

The short version

Almost every flooring article online was written for a national audience, and a national audience does not live on a slab in the Chihuahuan Desert. The advice about winter gapping, expansive clay and dust mites is wrong here — in two of those three cases it is the exact opposite of what happens.

So we wrote the local version. Humidity figures come from NOAA, wood tolerances from the National Wood Flooring Association, tile standards from TCNA and ANSI, and soil data from the USDA series whose type location is El Paso County. Every source is linked at the bottom of every guide.

Replacing old carpet? We remove it free with every hard-surface install.

We do not install carpet. We pull it out, haul it away and get your subfloor ready for tile, plank or hardwood. That is part of the job, not a line item you find out about later.

Where to start

The three guides most homeowners read first

If you are early in the process, read the cost guide first. It is the question everyone actually has, and knowing the real 2026 ranges makes every quote you receive easier to judge.

If the budget is set and you are choosing a material, go to best flooring for El Paso homes and then vinyl plank vs tile. Between them they cover the decision almost every household in this city ends up making.

Before you sign anything, read the twelve questions. Texas does not license flooring contractors, which makes the written scope and the insurance certificate the things that actually protect you.

Questions about these guides

Who writes these flooring guides?

The installation crew at El Paso Flooring Pros, from work performed on El Paso slabs. Every figure is linked to its source at the bottom of each guide, and every price range is labelled as a published market range rather than our quote.

Which guide should I read first?

If you have not set a budget, start with the cost guide. If the budget is set and you are choosing a material, start with the room-by-room guide and then the vinyl plank versus tile comparison.

Do the prices in the guides apply to my house?

They are typical El Paso market ranges for 2026, not a quote. The number for your house depends on the material, how flat your slab is and what has to come out first. That comes from a free in-home measure.

Why is the advice different from what I read elsewhere?

Because most flooring content is written for a national audience that does not live on a slab in the Chihuahuan Desert. Winter gapping, expansive clay and dust mites are the wrong story here, and in two of those cases the opposite of what actually happens.

Do you install what I already bought?

Yes. We supply material at contractor pricing for one all-in installed price, or we install what you already bought from any store. Both routes are priced the same way, line by line.

How do I get a real number for my floor?

Ask for the free in-home measure. We measure the actual rooms, look at the slab, and leave you a written itemized quote with every line spelled out. No charge and no obligation.
